Crown Commercial BASWARE Marketplace (RTPIS)

East Riding of Yorkshire Council's Transportation Services team procured a real time bus information system 5 years ago to provide accurate real time bus information for passengers at key sites across the county. The JMW Systems Info-route software system currently runs screen and information totems at Beverley and Bridlington Bus Stations and at Cottingham Green and Hessle Square. Further sites are planned using Department for Transport external funding for the hardware cost.

The JMW Systems product is unique in being able to source and run high quality, often national, advertising campaigns on these screens, meaning that there is no ongoing maintenance cost to the Council, and as advertising revenue increases, the potential for income generation form advertising revenue should also be possible.

Transportation Services' initial 5-year contract with JMW Systems expires at the end of March 2024 and requires renewal to maintain the Info-route back-office system which provides the real time information feeds that drive bus information provision on the installed screens. This is in place and includes the fully curated advertising package, which no other suppliers can provide.

JMW Systems has made this product and associated hardware items available for call off on the Crown Commercial BASWARE Marketplace. This framework has already been subject to a rigorous Government tender process during its establishment, meaning that local authorities can call of low complexity and low value products through direct award. The Info-route system is available for a nominal charge (reflecting advertising revenue generation) and additional hardware which increases the coverage of real time provision aligned with advertising means that increased future sustainability can be achieved.
