ESPH SB Hastings Country Park Information Centre (ESPH189)

Hastings Borough Council is seeking tenders from suitably qualified and experienced Contractors, to act as Principle Contractor and undertake the construction of a new information centre in Hastings Country Park.

The Council has held a long standing ambition to replace the current Visitor Centre in Hastings Country Park with a new Information Centre. The new Centre would aim to enrich the visitor experience by providing inspirational interpretation to showcase the unique habitats, spectacular scenery and landscape of Hastings Country Park Nature Reserve.

The new facility will educate visitors about this unique part of the Sussex coastline, its geology, flora and fauna and local history. It will be designed to blend into the beautiful natural surroundings and be as sustainable as possible. The Council has appointed Cave Cooperative Architects to design a building using an innovative approach to design and build and employing exemplar sustainable materials and methods for construction.

The Hastings Country Park Nature Reserve has 345 hectares of ancient woodland, heathland and grassland together with 3 miles (5km) of dramatic cliffs and coastline. Lying within the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, most of the park has been designated a Special Area of Conservation, a Site of Special Scientific Interest and is a designated Local Nature Reserve.
