description
The College is the Professional Body for all in policing in England and Wales.
The College was established in 2012 by the Home Secretary as the professional body for policing. Its vision is to be recognised as a ‘world class professional body, equipping policing with the skills and knowledge to prevent crime, protect the public and inspire public trust’.
The Manuals
The manuals are a crucial support to the National Police Promotion Framework (NPPF) Step Two Legal Examinations and the National Investigators’ Examination (NIE). The manuals effectively define the body of knowledge in policing that candidates sitting these examinations are assessed against.
The Examinations
The Sergeant and Inspector NPPF Step Two Legal Examinations test candidates’ knowledge, understanding and application of law, evidence and procedure that has been identified as crucial for effective performance at these ranks.
The NIE is a pre-requisite for the Initial Crime Investigators’ Development Programme (ICIDP) and is designed to identify those candidate who have sufficient levels of knowledge, understanding and application of relevant law and procedure to perform effectively in the ICIDP and as a trainee investigator.
The Requirement
The Successful Bidder will be required to publish, promote, sell and distribute (“Publish”) Manuals covering content from the College’s Syllabi for (a) the National Police Promotions Framework Step (“NPPF”)Two Legal Examinations (Sergeant and Inspector) and (b) the National Investigators’ Examination (“NIE”). Bidders must be able to publish an online version of the manuals which can be purchased and downloaded via its web presence. The College of Policing expects any company that it enters into an agreement with to have access to suitably qualified and experienced authors, as well as assessors to carry out legal review of the manuals to ensure accuracy.
The Endorsement
In consideration of publication of the Manuals in accordance with the College’s requirements and royalty payments as per the Successful Bidders offer, the College is willing to grant the Successful Bidder exclusive rights to use the College’s Endorsement and relevant logos.
The ITQ will be published via Contracts Finder on 3 May 2016.
