description
Marketing Birmingham is the area’s strategic marketing partnership, which focuses on three business areas (i) investment, (ii) the visitor economy and (iii) strategic marketing.
The company is funded by the public and private sectors, and acts as an economic development and promotions agency undertaking long term Service Level Agreement contracts. Clients’ examples include: Birmingham City Council; the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF); Finance Birmingham and Greater Birmingham and Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership.
Alongside this, Marketing Birmingham also is commissioned on a project by project basis by clients across the Midlands areas. These can range between consumer and business activity, across sectors and geographic markets - regional, domestic and international, with more focus on the latter two territories.

In 2015, Marketing Birmingham was commissioned by Greater Birmingham and Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership (GBSLEP) to develop a regional strategy to strengthen the area’s reputation and positioning across global markets.
The project was established on the basis that regions around the world are competing for investment, visitors, talent and positive media attention - and that the Greater Birmingham, and the wider West Midlands region, needs to stand out in this crowded and competitive global environment.
The aim of this project is to appoint a supplier to further develop the competitive position ‘Make Your Mark’, in particular the creative application of the concept, and to develop resources for implementation. The brief includes;
- Visualise the brand – to provide consistency of application that allows sufficient flexibility for use across the West Midlands Combined Authority geography, and that will resonate with a wide base of people and sectors; and
- Develop brand tools – that will support with both adoption and implementation, and will also facilitate regional engagement, which has been the foundations of this project to-date.
