description
NWL CCG requires a community breastfeeding support service in Hounslow to offer breastfeeding support services through a café based environment. The aim of the service is to provide non-clinical environment drop in sessions which enables mothers to access both social support and expert advice and resources. The current service offers a qualified and licensed Breastfeeding Counsellor who facilitates a Baby Café across 4 venues for 6.5 hours a week, over 48 weeks.
Key services required include:
| - | To provide a drop in centre to support breastfeeding mothers on how to breastfeed. |
| - | To provide information and support to mothers and families. |
| - | To provide breastfeeding, practical and problem solving support by covering difficulty and issues faced by new parents, including baby feeding, and to provide an opportunity to discuss concerns, share experiences and ideas. |
| - | To provide informal education and practical breastfeeding support programmes delivered by both health professionals/practitioners and peer supporters in accordance with local population needs. |
| - | To provide a skilled 1:1 breastfeeding service and social support. |
| - | To signpost mothers to other support services within and around neighbouring boroughs. |
The CCG currently has a contract in place with withThe National Childbirth Trust (NCT) to provide the above services. The term of this contract is 12 months, 1st April 2021 - 31st March 2022 (value: £36,655.00) during which time, the CCG will assess the needs of the service users and consider how (if relevant) it needs to:
| - | Secure the needs of the people who use the services. |
| - | Improve the quality of the services |
| - | Improve the efficiency in the provision of the services including through the services being provided. |
NWL CCG is considering options for making future arrangements for these services beyond 1st April 2022 which may involve looking to tender the opportunity in the future. Any capable provider may come forward by 4th March 2022 to engage with the CCG.
If it is the case that The National Childbirth Trust (NCT) is the only provider capable of delivering the services described, then the CCG will look to award a further contract to The National Childbirth Trust (NCT) for a further 12 months.
During 2022, it is anticipated that NWL CCG will be succeeded by an Integrated Care Board (ICB). Any future contract and/or procurement opportunity may therefore be in the name of the ICB.
