description

The Highways England Delivery Plan 2015-2020 is committed to examine Trans-Pennine routes, develop solutions that could improve journey times between Manchester and Sheffield and address safety concerns in the area. Currently Manchester and Sheffield are the two worst connected cities in the North, with journeys taking over 75 minutes over a distance of 40 miles (63km). A study was commissioned in 2015 to examine the possibilities of improving the highway links between these two areas
