description

A supplier will be appointed for a period of 12 months (with the option to extend the contract for a period of up to a further 2 years), for the supply of a Disclosure & Barring Services (DBS) online application system.

At the University we undertake approximately 800 Disclosure & Barring Services checks (DBS, formerly CRB) a year. These are for students before they start their programmes of study, such as Teacher Training, Medicine, Medical Imaging and a number of Research Programmes. We also carry out DBS checks for current students, undertaking clinical, teaching or other placements as part of their selected module choice, where appropriate. In addition our HR department undertake DBS checks for staff members, where there is a need for police clearance in the nature of their work. We undertake Standard and Enhanced checks however the vast majority of the checks are enhanced.

The application for Disclosure & Barring Services checks should be an online system.

The online system should be able to:

-Reduce data errors
-Reduce correspondence by post
-Upload applications to the Disclosure & Barring Service on a daily basis (working day)
-Have a flexible payment system. Some groups of applicants to pay directly to the supplier. Other groups to submit an application without payment and payment for these groups to be invoiced to the University. The groups will be determined by the University.
-Provide an online result of the DBS application
