description
Independent Visitors provide a support and befriending service to children and young people who are in care. This service originated in the 1989 Children Act for children who had little or no contact with their birth family. However, changes to the statutory guidance in the 2008 Act now mean that any young person in care is now eligible for this service if it appears to be in the child’s interests to do so.
