description
NLPU produces an annual guide to Lottery spending - the National Lottery Index - which relates to the preceding financial year. The Index is used by NLPU and its stakeholders to provide useful data about Lottery spending, by geography, sector and type of grant. It is not released publicly as a report in its entirety, but is used piecemeal across many NLPU campaigns to demonstrate how Good Causes funding has a strong impact on communities across the UK.
Building upon the experience of the creation of previous versions of the National Lottery Index and following the same historical process, the UH Venture's Statistical Services and Consultancy Unit (SSCU) will liaise with the different Lottery Distribution Boards (LDBs) over the process of them providing data that can be used to construct the National Lottery Index for 2017/18. This will involve the LDBs completing a template form (which is similar to that used to gather data for all the previous versions of the index) to input their data into and return it to SSCU for processing. SSCU will then check the data received to see if it is appropriate for use in the required analysis. If further information is required, this will be requested by SSCU.
Once data has been received from all the LDBs, SSCU will analyse the data to produce various statistics/maps requested, as below.
- Country-level summary statistics for good causes, sectors and social groups.
- Local authority-level per capita total and totals for good causes, sectors and social groups Maps of local authority-level per capita totals.
- Traditional county-level totals for good causes, sectors and social groups.
- Parliamentary constituency-level totals for good causes, sectors and social groups.
- Amount granted to the 25% most deprived communities in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales.
