Provision of Medical Services at Border Force Custody Suites

The scope of the tender is for the Provision of healthcare in a Border Force custody environment.

PACE Code C sets out the requirements for the detention, treatment and questioning of suspects. In addition itprovides a legislative framework for Border Force custody staff as to when it is appropriate to access medicalattention, and includes detained persons who:

• Appear to be suffering from a physical illness.
• Are a SIDT (‘Suspected Internal Drug Trafficker’ or ‘stuffer/ swallower’)
• Are injured.
• Appear to be suffering from mental ill health (or disablement, or difficulty that means that the detainee is likely

to be mentally vulnerable or require additional support).

• Appear to have a drug or alcohol dependence or withdrawal which is likely to affect their safety.

Appear to need a medical examination.

• Request a medical examination.

The medical provider is required to provide healthcare services in any of the above circumstances.

There will be seven lots available: Manchester, Birmingham, Stansted, Harwich, Gatwick, Heathrow and Dover. Suppliers will be able to bid for single or multiple lots.

It is intended to carry out a Supplier Engagement Event, on Thursday 12.5.2016. During this process, theAuthority will look to the participants to assist in refining their requirement.
