description

The Council wishes to appoint an external provider to support hospital discharges for people who require a care home setting.

The Intermediate Care Service (ICS) in Walsall is the single largest integrated service within the local health and social care system and accounts for the highest amount of expenditure from the Better Care Fund (BCF). The ICS is fundamental to the timely discharge of adult (18+) patients from hospital and also facilitates the assessment of people during a period of intermediate care. It also enables people to return to the care home or extra care scheme where they live and facilitates the re-start of long term care and support package(s) in the community.

This service will commence on 10th December 2021 for a 16 week period, ending on 31 March 2022. There is an option to extend this contract for a further 12 week period up to 23 June 2022, subject to mutual agreement and business need. Providers are expected to ensure they have the capacity to mobilise by the commencement date.

The Council is looking to appoint one supplier for this Contract.

The procurement process being used is an Open process.

PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

In order to be considered for the award of this contract, applicants must meet the following criteria:

? The care home must be registered with the CQC and hold a current and valid rating of 'Good' or above. Note: Should a home hold a status of 'Not currently rated', the Council may need to undertake an evaluation exercise to establish care quality and any contract management issues. ? Considering the fact that Walsall's multi-disciplinary team only cover homes in Walsall, the council will only accept bids from homes based in the borough of Walsall or linked to a GP based in the borough of Walsall.

? Due to the timescales involved, the care home must have the immediate capacity to provide the required number of beds.
