description

In the last quarter of 2014, NHSBT undertook an employee survey called Your Voice. This was an all-staff employee survey with 32 questions which, as in previous surveys, was based on the national NHS Staff Survey. It was the first time in 2014 that the whole NHSBT workforce was invited to participate in a national survey. Previous surveys had been sent to a randomised sample of staff across the organisation, in line with practice across the NHS. Significantly, a 68% response rate (3528 employees) was achieved – well above the national average for the NHS of 42%. This has given us the confidence that we can accurately gauge staff’s opinions and demonstrates that staff are keen to tell us about what it is like to work at NHSBT. Initial results of the employee survey were reported to the Executive Team in January 2015. The Executive agreed to focus on three key themes in response to the overall outcomes: •Improving communication between the different parts of NHSBT

•Improving line manager capability and capacity

•Addressing issues related to harassment bullying and abuse evidenced in the survey outcome.

NHSBT has developed a significant business and operating plan to address these three key themes as part of its Engagement strategy.

The detailed operational plan to support the delivery of the key three themes has already commenced following approval by the Board in March 2015. From October 2015, in order to gauge its impact, NHSBT will undertake a shorter and more focused ‘temperature check’ surveys to evaluate the employee’s opinions and engagement. This survey will include the question sets 10, 11 & 23 around the three themes. It is intended to hold another full national survey in 2016 where we ask all 32 questions again, to evaluate the impact of the three key themes and the staff’s opinion since the Your Voice staff survey in 2014.

Additional information: Requests to participate must be submitted by email to Lorna Joy email address: lorna.joy@nhsbt.nhs.uk no later than 10.00a.m. 20th July 2015.

Any requests received after this deadline may not be considered.
