description

Natural England propose to commission an explorative project on mitigation and reduction of air and water pollution in commercial outdoor pigs, considering environmental, economic and welfare aspects. Currently, there is a lack of evidence on this subject. Exploration on this topic would be incredibly beneficial in supporting the development of a best practice guide for stakeholders and their delivery of environmental, sustainable farming and infrastructure enhancements. It would also provide evidence for future related research projects inclusive of air quality monitoring for outdoor pigs. We require information from not just reports and literature, but from test and trial projects, inclusive of workshops with partners and stakeholders on outdoor pig fields, to inform the exploration of mitigation and reduction measures.
