description
We are looking for designers, makers and tradespeople to design and create a presentation item which will be presented to visitors and guests by Birmingham City Council as the Proud Host City 2022.
This is an opportunity for our creative sector to get involved and showcase to the whole world our talent, rich and innovative industry.
We are focused on creating a range of items to be presented by the Lord Mayor to VIPs, dignitaries and Heads of States which are:
- oInnovative - creating an item which is bold and advance in its design and creation
- oRelevant - We are Birmingham and we want it to represent our unique city
- oCompelling - we want to provoke interest and admiration in a powerful way linking back to our communities and city.
- oLegacy & reputation - This will be part of the continuing legacy for our Proud Host City. We want it to be a talking point and be bold, standing apart as a memory of the visit to Birmingham.
To create a product which meets and showcases the Host City objectives outlined above. It must be portable, durable, sustainable, ethically sourced and adhere to travel guidelines e.g. no food or perishable items.
There are two price bandings for the items to be produced, one at a maximum cost of ?70 and the other at ?250 which must include all costs including materials, manufacture, labour and delivery. It should be noted that the Council may select more than one item from each price band.
Your design will be one of the items the Council will give to VIPs, dignitaries and Heads of States. One of each of the designs selected will also be kept and showcased within Birmingham. The successful designers may be required to support the Council with promotional activities.
