description

Cefas require a bespoke Marine Recirculation System for housing and breeding marine invertebrate species. The new system will allow to expand number of species for ecotoxicology testing and capacity for maintaining longer term cultures required for regulatory and R&D work.

The system design should contain a bespoke filter with a capacity of static sump volume between 300-500 litres and a variable sump volume between 100-200 litres. The pump should run at quite low speed and be quiet in operation. It is proposed to utilise the existing wet benches to accommodate a number of tanks. The treatment plant shall also have mechanical filtration, bio-filtration and UV treatment to ensure good water quality for the resident livestock.

The system will be designed to be flexible so the tanks can be easily arranged or exchanged. Also, future capacity upgrade should be considered
