description

To commission the Schools Health Education Unit (SHEU) in Exeter to continue to undertake a survey (Pupil Voice) with primary and secondary schools in Bristol to obtain detailed knowledge of their health related behaviours, opinions and outcomes. This survey has been undertaken 6 times since 2008, with engagement increasing to more than 50% of pupils in the year groups of interest in 2015. The survey provides consistent, robust and highly relevant intelligence on young people's health and views in Bristol not available from other sources. The information is used in numerous reports, including the statutory Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA) and many others where an assessment of young peoples' needs are important. The results are used to design services, influence policy within the council, and shared with schools to shape their engagement with public health priorities. Previously the survey was funded when Public Health was part of the NHS. This is the first time funding has been requested through BCC.
