description

The University of Southampton is seeking suppliers who can deliver against supplying a non-contact surface profiler for use in an A.I. microscope project. The intended purpose of the device is to allow accurate measurements of the 3-dimensional shape of a test object.

The measurement must be made without contacting the surface so devices that use optical methods such as white light interferometry are required. After the measurement, 3D data that describes the test object surface must be readily accessible and in a format that is suitable for subsequent calculations.

The test object will typically be a laser machined sample (i.e. a nominally flat surface with raised or indented features of interest). Typical surface features will each be 10 - 500 µm in size (in plane) but these may be arranged in an array that spans several mm. The vertical relief of the sample will typically be < 100 µm.

The University of Southampton will not discount any solutions provided that are ex-demonstrator.
