Staffordshire Moorlands District council wishes to invite tenders for Turf stripping and heather seeding at Wetley Moor

Staffordshire Moorlands District Council is looking for suppliers to provide tenders for turf stripping and heather cutting at Wetley Moor Common Site of Special Scientific Interest near Werrington, Stoke-on-Trent. ST9 0EL. (Central grid reference SJ931485).

Wetley Moor is common land with open public access. Approximately 70 hectares of the site is also a Site of Special scientific Interest (SSSI) for its heathland vegetation communities. Current management techniques involve controlling scrub, gorse management and cutting and removing ground vegetation. Cutting and removal of ground vegetation is scheduled for September 2016 - February 2017 is the fifth phase of a six year plan for cutting and removing ground vegetation and turf stripping at the site. It is intended that this work will compliment conservation grazing to the site.
