Didsbury Flood Storage Reservoir (FSR) is part of the River Mersey South Manchester Flood Control & Improvement Scheme, which also includes Sale Ees Flood Storage Reservoir. The scheme was designed to limit flows beneath the Barfoot Aqueduct which carries the Bridgewater Canal over the River Mersey, reducing the risk of an uncontrolled discharge of the canal into the Mersey therefore providing improved flood protection in a 1 in 50-year event to 610 properties.
