Winter Maintenance Contract 2015 - 2021

Provision of a winter maintenance service to all highways, other than motorways or trunk roads, within the administrative boundary of Reading Borough Council in Berkshire. The contract will involve the provision of winter maintenance services, including precautionary and post salting on scheduled routes, along with spot salting, snow clearance and the installation and maintenance of salt bins. The appointed contractor will be required to supply their own equipment, labour, materials and facilities including gritting vehicles, snowploughs, supply of road salt and the provision of an appropriate base depot equipped for the storage and distribution of road salt materials.

Additional information: Reading Borough Council submitted a Prior Information Notice (PIN) to the Official Journal of the European Union on 1 July 2015 in order to notify bidders of its intention to advertise a contract for the provision of a Winter Maintenance Service. Please note that this PIN is not a 'Call for Competition', it is being published to enable application of a reduced timescale to the procurement process. A separate Contract Notice will be published in due course to begin the tendering exercise.
