The National Centre for Advanced Tribology Southampton (nCATS), facilitated through the nC2 business unit, leads the way in applying a multi-disciplinary approach to problem solving for both surface degradation and coatings related issues.

nCATS has a broad range of expertise in corrosion testing and mechanisms, for aerospace and marine sectors, and has extensive testing and surface analysis facilities. The Centre is working with numerous companies in the oil and gas, maritime, aerospace and land equipment sectors. Typically, these companies are either seeking solutions for new materials to be developed for ever more demanding environments, or alternative solutions to currently acceptable solutions now being phased out due to regulatory pressure. nCATS has successfully concluded and awarded through the University of Southampton a contract to purchase a cyclic corrosion test chamber capable of performing a range of accelerated corrosion tests on test samples.
