Brief Description of Requirement

The Industrial Strategy set an ambition to make the UK "the best understood major economy". It also stated that "the success of our Industrial Strategy will also depend on our ability to keep up with the pace with new sectors and emerging businesses."

The Future Sectors policy team have an ongoing need to be able to identify individual businesses operating in new emerging sectors of the economy, or in parts of existing sectors that are transforming.

As the analytical unit supporting the Future Sectors policy team, we need to identify and quantify the emerging sectors and business models to form a picture of the changing UK business base and opportunities. We conduct a bottom-up market analysis of the business base in emerging sectors of the economy. This helps us to assess the scale and strength of the business base in an emerging sector, but also understand the nature of the business activity in the UK (e.g. who are the downstream customers, which specific parts of the sector is the UK strong in). This help us to assess the potential for comparative advantage as well as being able to identify which businesses policy need to engage with in order to build up a picture of the opportunities and barriers facing the emerging sector in the UK, as we assess the case for government action.

As part of the strategic alliance between UK Shared Business Services Ltd (UK SBS) and Crown Commercial Service (CCS), UK SBS will be using the CCS eSourcing Suite for this procurement.

Once you have registered on the eSourcing Suite, a registered user can express an interest for a specific procurement. This is done by emailing expressionofinterest@crowncommercial.gov.uk.

Crown Commercial Service will process the email and then enable the Bidder to access the procurement online via the e-Sourcing Suite. The registered user will receive a notification email to alert them once this has been done. The Sourcing documents can then be accessed on the eSourcing Suite at: https://gpsesourcing.cabinetoffice.gov.uk using the instructions detailed in the Specification documents within Contracts Finder.

As a user of the e-Sourcing Suite you will have access to Emptoris email messaging service which facilitates all messages sent to you and from you in relation to any specific RFX event.
