description
Northumberland National Park Authority are currently seeking tenderers to provide costs and proposals for the enhancement of the amenity area at Percy's Cross, Otterburn as part of the Revitalising Redesdale Landscape Partnership scheme.
Revitalising Redesdale is a £2.8 million Landscape Partnership Scheme, funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, which aims to celebrate, conserve and enhance Redesdale's rich cultural heritage, landscape and wildlife.
The site is located west of the village of Otterburn in Northumberland near, and possibly on, the site of the famous battle of Otterburn, fought in 1388. The site serves as a car park, picnic area and viewing point and is to be enhanced to create a more attractive place of interest for visitors. The project aims to work with stakeholders to redesign and rebuild the present battlefield visitor area through upgrading and improving access and enabling the site to be presented to visitors in an imaginative way.
