description
The University of Northampton has a commitment to social innovation and creating social impact. This means that as an institution, we work hard to have a positive effect on the world around us, which includes our strong commitment to tackling climate change.
The University of Northampton has reaffirmed its commitment to combatting climate change by pledging to becoming Net Zero Carbon in Scope 1 & 2 emissions by 2030 and Scope 3 emissions by 2050. This means the University needs to eliminate or offset circa 5,000 tonnes of carbon emissions by the end of the decade.
The purpose of this procurement exercise is to secure the services of a suitably qualified professional consultant, with the experience of working with reasonably large and complex organisations who can work with the University to develop a Carbon Management Action Plan (CMAP).
The Carbon Management Action Plan (CMAP) aims to identify and deliver capital, operational and replacement expenditure and change required to meet the net zero.
The University requires a competent and experienced consultant who can:
Outline the steps required to take to meet the UONs Net Zero Carbon in Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030 target.
To include guidance and/or tools for Scope 3 emissions reporting on water, waste, travel and procurement and a high-level plan of how the UON can reach Net Zero Carbon in Scope 3 emissions by 2050.
Understand the fabric of the existing University estate and operational arrangements
Come up with practical, viable and deliverable capital works, operational and replacement changes to deliver the Net Zero target by 2030, replacing fossil fuel reliant systems with zero/low carbon alternatives.
To deliver the CMAP by 30th June 2023.
