description

The Pig Health Scheme monitors English finishing pigs at slaughter for prevalence and severity of specified health conditions. Note: sows and other ages of pigs are not included in this scheme. This scheme is available to all pig levy payers by signing up to the terms and conditions, and sending pigs to be assessed on specified days at each participating abattoir. Individual data can be benchmarked against averages for others within the scheme.

Tenderers will be required to provide quarterly data reports and an overall annual report based on the data sent by AHDB.

Data provided to the tenderer will be based on veterinary assessments of specific health conditions found at slaughter (the assessment of pigs is the subject of a separate tender exercise). At the end of each quarter data analysis is undertaken (by the successful supplier for AHDB), this will include the prevalence of each condition and individual assessor analysis.
