description

The Department for Transport (DfT) is commissioning a research project to identify and recommend options for methods and equipment available for the detection and policing of excessively noisy road vehicles. High levels of noise have been linked to a number of human health issues and vehicle noise is a significant contributor to this, particularly in urban environments. Excessively noisy vehicles, which have commonly been illegally modified, also lead to significant annoyance and complaints from the public in both urban and rural areas of the UK.
