description
This proposed work area is for the Maths and English CPD programme evaluation and is detailed more fully in our draft Invitation to Tender (attached). It is summarised below:
Programme Summary Aims
The purpose of this tender is to secure the services of a partner to deliver an independent process and impact evaluation for Department for Education (DfE) grant-funded further education (FE) workforce development in the maths and English programme area. The evaluation will assess impact on participants' professional practice, provider performance and learner outcomes, compare the effectiveness of different programmes within the programme area, recommend improvements to strengthen programme quality and maximise impact, and inform future programme investment and design decisions.
The maths and English CPD programme aims to reach 3,080 direct individuals with CPD.
The CPD programme is made up of two strands - 1). maths and 2). English. Within each strand there will be a combination of 60-minute webinars and live online/face to face/on demand courses up to one day in length. This could include for example a standalone 120-minute course, a package of 120-minute modules, or full day courses. It also includes longer Level 5 courses and opportunities for practitioners to gather and discuss the CPD during monthly sharing sessions (or similar).
The offer aims to enhance practitioners' own skills in the subject area as well as pedagogy. It covers qualification levels 1 to 5 and is aimed at both new teachers and existing teachers wishing to upskill.
The CPD programme is supported by the Regional Specialist Lead Programme (RSL). RSLs, among other activities, advise the sector on how to best engage with our CPD programme. While we are not looking for the whole of the RSL programme to be evaluated we would like to evaluate how effective the RSL programme is in driving uptake of the CPD offer.
