description
King's College London (the university) requires a state of the art whole body ultra-high field (7T) Magnetic Resonance system, including associated ancillary equipment and operational/research support, and invites expressions of interest from competent suppliers to fulfil this requirement. The university requires that the successful supplier will provide a full turnkey service, i.e. supply, install and commission the equipment and also appoint building contractors and manage the enabling and refurbishment works required to house the equipment. Prospective Suppliers need to be aware of the more limited local space and services preparation as part of the installation.
The scientific and clinical staff driving this project would like to explore different ways of achieving their requirement and, as such, the university is utilising the Competitive Dialogue Procedure as set out in Article 30 (Chapter 2, Section 3) of the Public Contract Regulations 2015.
The 7T system is to be installed in a newly developed clinical research facility to be located at St Thomas' Hospital, London SE1 7EH, and to be used by leading researchers drawn from major Universities and Research institutes across London. The MR system is needed for comprehensive research programmes in Neuroimaging/Neuroscience, Cardiovascular disease, Oncology, Musculoskeletal studies and Paediatrics, and closely allied methodological research with major foci on parallel transmit technology, diffusion imaging, quantitative brain imaging & in vivo histology, quantitative susceptibility mapping and multi-nuclear spectroscopy.
