description
Bromley CCG are exploring the option to tender a service in the future to develop and implement an electronic shared care record portal, and hope to engage with potential bidders to explore how the service may be developed and delivered. The contract is expected to run for a period of no longer than 10 years.
Key points to note are:
1.The emphasis of this project is on improving the quality of care delivered to patients
2.Investing in this IT infrastructure is seen as an enabler for digitised shared care plans and as sound platform for future use of shared information to support improvements in care, such as connection for smartphone health applications
3.The significant changes planned for Primary Care will be much easier to achieve with an underpinning IT infrastructure to allow all participants to use the same information.
4.Patients expect all their care providers to see the same information; they are frustrated when they have to repeat information given to another care provider
5.Patients also want to be more involved in their care through access to their information; without access to unified shared information, they will need to access separate systems from each care organisation
6.The proposed IT system does not require care providers to materially change their systems, making adoption easier
7.The investment will be future-proofed through selection of a computer system which can flex and scale to support new requirements
This project should not be considered in isolation from other key strategic initiatives such as Integrated care networks and the development of the local Alliance.
