ORE Catapult intends to expand its cable testing capabilities by asking a contractor to provide a detailed design for a dynamic cable compression test rig that is capable of simulating in-service dynamic loads for floating offshore wind (FOW) applications.

Fundamentally, the rig design is expected to comprise of:

  • A steel frame.
  • End terminations.
  • Bending Actuators.
  • Horizontal tension/compression Actuator.
  • The cable specimen (during testing).
  • Ancillary mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and control system
