description

The main objective of WP-02 is to quantify the performance and cost of different ac systems configurations using static converters compared with the equivalent conventional feeder station transformers.

The study under WP-02 shall take account of the output results from WP-01 (included in the tender pack) in terms of equipment configuration and hardware required to form a static converter feeder station and its characteristics in ‘black box’ form. Two main static converter configurations will be assessed, three level with intermediate dc link and the modular multi level converter.

The static converters will be employed in a combination of double feed end and/or meshed feed and the use of rail return or autotransformer systems.
