Existing facilities include the main auditorium, a small gallery, offices and a box office. The ground floor of the building was previously used for the town's museum and information centre but is currently vacant.

The Assembly Rooms and neighbouring Farmer's Market are designated as Grade II listed, built around 1840 in a Classical style, constructed of stucco on assumed brick walls with a slate roof. The building is located in a prominent position at the south side of Castle Square at the corner of Mill Street in the environs of Ludlow Castle.

It is intended for the Assembly Rooms to be extensively refurbished, including replacement of building services, repair to the building structure, and fitout of internal spaces.

This project is partly funded by the European Regional Development Fund.
