description

The Ministry of Defence (the Authority) is the largest employer of Apprentices in England, with circa 8,000 gaining an apprenticeship every year. This requirement is for Contractors to deliver the L3 Pharmacy Technician (ST0300) apprenticeship, specifically for up to 10 apprentices per year. The Authority intends to set up a framework agreement with a minimum of 5 Contractors.

Historically the Defence Medical Services have seconded military students (based at the Defence Medical School, Lichfield) to NHS Trusts based within 2 hours of Lichfield to undertake the Pharmacy Technician training. These students are returned to the Services fully trained and licenced to practise.

The new requirement will be for similar model of secondment to the NHS Trusts, within 2 hour of Lichfield. The NHS Trust will be expected to provide on the job training, End Point Assessment (including the L3 Pharmacy qualification), and; licence to practice. The students shall then return to DMS as qualified apprentices.

NHS Trusts wishing to tender for the opportunity to deliver to the Services must be registered with the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) as a Main Provider by the Contract start date. Failure to register as a Main Provider shall result in a submitted Tender being non-compliant
