Detailed Description

The Analytical Chemistry laboratory at Cefas Lowestoft has a requirement for one high pressure digestion microwave to support trace metals analysis for a wide range of key government monitoring programmes. The system will be capable of fully digesting sediment samples using strong acids (including hydrofluoric acid), and Biota samples, for the analysis of trace metals by ICP.

Requirement:

One (1) High pressure microwave system for inorganic and organic samples including temperature control sensors and control system.

One (1) full set of reaction vessels for acid digestion, vessel rack and turntable.

Cefas require the microwave system to consist of the following:

  • A minimum of 1800 Watt dual magnetron
  • Internally coated with fluoropolymer (or equivalent) and corrosion resistant exhaust system.
  • Ability to save data immediately to create digestion report
  • Minimum 40 place rotor with vent and reseal technology, capable of high pressure (minimum 35 bar) and high temperature (180°C or more) with vessel volume of >50ml.
  • Full set of vessels and their ancillary parts.
  • Fixed-vessel shield to allow for easy removal of vessels
  • Temperature control and monitoring of vessels
  • Safety features such as power cut off in event of over-pressurization, auto-vent etc.
  • Control terminal that operates the microwave system. A statement with regards to costs of firmware/software updates throughout the lifetime of the equipment is required if applicable.
  • Ability to print each run (T/P trace) or transfer this as a data file.
