description

Junction 2 Employment Area is an important strategic employment area comprising one of the UK's most successful Enterprise Zone areas at i54, Wolverhampton Business Park, Pendeford Business Park, Boundary Industrial Estate and Trinity Court. Junction 2 Employment Area is situated in the west of the Black Country in South Staffordshire and Wolverhampton adjacent to Junction 2 of the M54, Stafford and Wobaston Road. The area is home to some of the Black Country's strategic companies including Jaguar Land Rover's engine plant, UTC Marstons, Eurofins and Moog. A dashboard for Junction 2 has been developed to capture information directly from companies and providers on job opportunities, construction job opportunities, travel to work patterns, education, skills and training. An in-house business survey was carried out in 2014 to capture this information from the existing business base. In addition, it captures other important information on existing and future business requirements for business support, broadband, local transport infrastructure, skills requirements etc. The overall purpose of this work is to allow project sponsors to fully understand the economic impact of the Junction 2 area and to assist the partners to further develop, improve and prioritise support offered to local businesses. The project should also provide better real time information to enable us to tailor business support, ensure local skill requirements are met and target businesses with services to meet their specific needs.
