-Are timely and patient-centred providing the most appropriate method of treatment for each patient
-Are high quality, sustainable, value for money and affordable

The service will have the following objectives:

a.To operate well planned and clearly articulated care pathways covering defined presentations and conditions delivering safe, evidence-based care
b.To ensure diagnostic tests are appropriate, necessary, clinically correct, of high quality with timely access and reporting
c.To promote awareness, knowledge and implementation of clinical guidance for care of defined gastroenterological conditions amongst healthcare professionals
