description
Southend-on-Sea is one of the UK’s most popular visitor destinations and an iconic part of the offer is its world famous Pier.
Recognised as the longest pleasure pier in the world, the Victorian engineered structure welcomes around 300,000 visitors throughout the year.
Following successive fires, the Pier has suffered the loss of many of its buildings however in 2012, the Royal Pavilion was built and is now home to a range of activities and events along with a café and event space.
Southend Council is intending to develop a further permanent attraction at the shore end on the site of the former bowling alley platform.
Prior to the development of any new permanent attraction, the Council aspires to provide interest in visiting the Pier and encouraging new and repeat visitors to develop the visitor experience.
We are therefore seeking bids to provide a series of ‘beach huts’ with a curated artistic programme and attractive offer to augment our visitor experience.
