description

ASD Evidence and Research Strategy: Building capability within DfT and building on the social and behavioural research evidence base for cross-cutting themes and specific policy projects.

A key objective of SBR is to work with other disciplines to build capability in the use of social research evidence and behavioural insights. SBR is the centre for expertise on BIs in the department and holds specific knowledge of BI applications to the transport context. Through building capability, our aim is to develop knowledge of BI across the DfT and encourage wider and more informed applications of social and behavioural evidence. The Policy Profession in-turn is focussed upon improving BI capacity amongst its members as part of its strategic refresh.

Furthermore the SBR-led Think People programme reflects how behavioural insights, acting as part of a people centered approach to public policy delivery, have been made a departmental priority by Claire Perry MP, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State, and Philip Rutnam, Permanent Secretary.
