Project Objective(s)
The project is intended to deliver the following objectives:
Develop method statements for removing a floating offshore wind turbine from its installed location and returning it to the quayside, with a focus on making safe and protecting the integrity of mooring and cabling systems in its absence. Particular focus will be given to cable wet mate/quick release and protection as well as management of large lengths of deep water cable / mooring;
Identify and assess solutions to maintain production from the remaining turbines in the array that have been interrupted by the removal of the turbine being towed;
Develop method statements for quayside management of a floating offshore wind turbine during major maintenance activities. e.g. guard vessel/anchoring requirements, exclusion zones, port restrictions, management of high tension mooring lines;
Identify innovation opportunities associated with these activities to reduce risk, cost etc.
