description
In instances where an energy supplier is exiting the market, Ofgem's priority is to ensure that consumers' interests are protected, including that their supplies of electricity and gas are not disrupted.
Market exits can take the form of a commercial transaction between suppliers - one may buy the customer book of another for instance.
They can also require direct regulatory intervention. Where this is the case Ofgem runs a competitive process to appoint an alternative supplier for customers of the failed supplier. This process is called the Supplier of Last Resort (SoLR) process.
This contract is for support with:
Project managing a project to assess and plan for a range of potential scenarios for risk of failure in the coming winter (in light of recent market conditions)
- Broader project management of the Supplier Financial Stability work, including resource planning of any SoLR casework
- Project management of individual SoLR cases as required
- Coordinating with other teams around Ofgem to pool intelligence regarding suppliers' financial status
- Monitoring who has access to highly market sensitive information
- Creating, improving and maintaining processes to gather, analyse and share information related to suppliers' financial position
