The projects objectives include;

1.Reduce flood risk to properties and infrastructure associated with the risk of the Holme Fleet culvert becoming blocked
2.Assess options for the improvement/creation of wetland habitat in relation to Biodiversity Net Gain
3.Contribute to the Agency's aims to reduce carbon through creation of habitat that acts as a carbon sink and reduce or eliminate the necessity for over pumping during incident response.
4.Contribute to improving the WFD status of relevant waterbodies, which will help to meet the EA's legal obligations under the WFD.
5.Realise synergies associated with working in collaboration with Stockton Borough Council and the Stockton Tees Tidelands Project.
