P5 Lighting and Lighting Controls - HRS02 Tunnel and Lineside M&E

Scope/ What Will Be Required

Costain have been appointed to deliver contract HRS02, the Tunnel and Lineside Mechanical and Electrical services for HS2 ltd. A high-speed railway project that connects London to Birmingham with plans to extend in the future.

Package 5 for the Lighting and Lighting controls scope for contract HRS02 consists of lighting and the lighting controls (inclusive of Active Signage) for the tunnel and open route sections of the railway, the route being circa 180 km in length, inclusive of;

-Tunnel Lighting -Junction Lighting -Walkway Lighting -Cross Passage Active Signage -Lighting Controls Equipment

Costain require a supplier for design and supply only of the lighting and associated controls package. Costain and HS2 are looking for innovative and smart solutions that provide benefits in the following key areas;

-Health & Safety

-Programme - Installation and commissioning efficiency -Cost

-Quality and Assurance efficiency

-Whole life cost

-Carbon efficiency

All the innovation and design development must be accompanied with a rigorous approach to ensuring that the technical requirements are met. Including testing, where necessary. The scope of design and supply will include the following;

-Support to Costain's design partner through concept, scheme and detailed design -Lighting analysis and calculations

-Testing of products and arrangements

-Supply of lighting and lighting controls products and the associated equipment -Provision of samples and mock ups

-Commissioning support, as required

Full details of the scope and specifications will be provided to the successfully shortlisted suppliers. Suppliers should be aware of the scale of the HS2 project and are to assess their internal capabilities to be able to carry out the intended scope of works prior to completing the expression of interest.
