description
Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council is seeking expressions of interest from suitable suppliers for services to include:
- Health Visiting – leading the Healthy Child Programme from pregnancy to age five
- Healthy Start Vitamins Scheme – organising the promotion, direct supply and wider distribution of Healthy Start vitamins
- Infant Feeding – a specialist team to encourage mothers to breastfeed and provide expert guidance on infant nutrition
- Intensive Home Visiting – a specially trained team who provide intensive home-visiting to vulnerable mums (e.g. mums under the age of 19)
- School Nursing - leading the Healthy Child Programme from 5 to 19 years.
The Programme: Giving every child the best start in life in a priority for Solihull Council. To achieve this, we need high quality services that work for and with families. Our vision is for a service that is child and family focused and aims to deliver the national priorities for families to have a healthy pregnancy, for children to be ready to learn at 2, ready for school at 5, experience good emotional wellbeing and mental health and be a healthy weight.
The programme will operate on 4 levels of increasing need (community, universal, universal plus and universal partnership plus), deliver 8 universal health checks (antenatal check, 10-14 days after birth, 6-8 weeks, 12 month check, 2-2½ year check, school entry, Year 6-7 transition and mid-teen review) and address 10 areas of high impact (including parenting, nutrition and emotional well-being).
The Solihull Healthy Child Programme vision is:
- A service that is child and family focused
- Early identification of families experiencing lower level problems before they escalate
- Integrated with other parts of Solihull’s early help system, e.g. Engage
- Integrated pathways to enable fast access to specialist services
The Council will ask interested suitable suppliers for their previous experience with similar projects in order to develop the specification. This soft market testing is not part of the Council's procurement; the start of the procurement will be a separate exercise.
