description

The Black Country JCP District wishes to procure the Young Investment Programme (YIP). YIP is a two week motivational and employability course, for 18 to 24 year olds who are in the 0 to 13 week period of their welfare claim. It will be targeted at those, within this claimant group, who are deemed to be furthest away from the labour market. Youth unemployment is above the national average in the Black Country and this programme seeks to address this. A primary focus for YIP will be to increase engagement with training and employability programmes in order to encourage 18 to 24 year olds to participate in provision which will move them closer to returning to the active labour market. This will include participation in Youth Contract measures or alternatively other Government programmes.

Young Investment Programme will also encourage engagement in searching for employment on a full time basis in line with the requirements of the Claimant Commitment. Participants should leave the course feeling motivated to engage in activity that will move them closer towards the labour market.
