The Neonatal unit within the Jessop Wing at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust requires a basic portable neonatal ventilator. This will primarily be used for infants receiving palliative care to allow this to be done outside the intensive care nurseries such as at the mother’s bed side, in a quiet room or at the family home.

Must have features:

•Portable

•Small (ie can fit on a resuscitaire or in a cot for transfer of infant) •Easy to use

•Basic features only required ie pressure support ventilation •Quiet with few alarms

•Uses wall/cylinder oxygen

•Operates using ambient air, no external source required

•Can operate without mains supply (eg pneumatic operation or battery powered)

Additional information: The contracting authority considers that this contract may be suitable for economic operators that are small or medium enterprises (SMEs). However, any selection of tenderers will be based solely on the criteria set out for the procurement.
