description

The overarching aim of tier 4 in-patient assisted withdrawal is to ensure planned detoxification is appropriate and timely. Interventions should support individuals to choose recovery as an achievable way out of dependency and to contribute to reductions in the harm which drug and alcohol misuse causes for individuals, communities and their families.

In-patient assisted withdrawal from drugs and alcohol involves admission into the unit, where 24-hour medical cover, specialist assessment and a wide range of interventions are delivered by a multi-agency team.
