description
The works required are the design and installation of an irrigation system on the site at Kew Gardens.
The Irrigation system needs to cover an area extending 315 metres in length either side of a wide path and varying from 4 to 18 metres wide, with minimal fall on path surfaces. The borders will be planted with herbaceous perennials ranging from 20 cm to 200 cm in height. The system is to have the following, but not limited to:
| • | A sprinkler irrigation system is preferred, with heads and risers that can be removed in winter. Spare sprinkler heads should be easily obtained and fitted. |
| • | Water will be supplied under pressure from the existing RBG Kew ring main. |
| • | Supply hoses should be hidden from view. |
| • | The system should be divided into 14 zones, with each zone separately controlled and on a timer. |
| • | Geka fittings (or equivalent) are also required in each zone, with taps. |
| • | Fittings and controls should be located in control boxes sunk into the ground in each zone. |
