Place Partnership Ltd. on behalf of Hereford & Worcester Fire Authority invite suitable expressions of interest from architectural practices with proven experience in the design of emergency service projects to act as principle consultant as part of a single co-ordinated project for the design and construction of a new Fire Station at Broadway Worcestershire.

The project involves the construction of a new Fire Station at the existing Broadway Fire Station site in Worcestershire first published on the 18th April 2019.

An options appraisal style feasibility has already been carried out and the recommendation from this is for a new build on the existing site, which will allow the station to remain operational during the build, with little to no need for temporary accommodation.

The lead consultant will take the existing options appraisal and develop it further to a final solution.

The proposed station will include an appliance bay suitable for 1No. appliance along with appropriate operational and welfare requirements. A brief for this has been discussed with the service and will be provided by Place Partnership.

The external areas will need to allow for car parking for retained fire fighters along with an area for a small RTC compound and an area for smaller training exercises.

The practice will need to:

  1. Perform the Services as Designer, Design Leader and Lead Consultant during the Preparation and Design stages.
  1. To undertake, manage and include for all costs associated with site investigations necessary to fully understand the project and ensuring discharge of any planning conditions that arise.
  1. Manage the works, from inception to completion, with regard to CDM and all other aspects of health and safety legislation.
  1. Perform the Services necessary for completion of the Work Stages indicated below and in accordance with the Services Supplement.
  1. Engage specialists as necessary to manage and coordinate electrical engineering design and mechanical engineering design, quantity surveyors, CDM co-ordinators, landscape architects, Highways Engineers and all other specialist services necessary to deliver the project.
  1. To liaise with client direct specialists (ICT etc.)
  1. To liaise with, and manage, construction contractors and mechanical and electrical engineering contractors and all other bodies associated with the delivery of the scheme.
  1. Perform any other Services as identified within the scope of the project.

The lead consultant will oversee the full design team, reporting into the Client Project Manager from Place Partnership Limited who will be acting on behalf of the Fire Service.

The successful candidate for the project will be selected on the basis of financial and economic standing and technical capacity -- including a proven track record and the ability to deliver innovative designs.
