Buyer: Kent County Council Title: SS 14 144 - SIEM - Log Event management system Summary: The Opportunity Kent County Council is seeking to procure a log collection and event management system Background The Council has a complex and sophisticated ICT infrastructure that carries Terabytes of information every day. The majority of the log files these devices generate aren't currently managed or investigated. The Council would like to have a greater insight into events that could highlight conditions such as malware, audit of access to restricted files, virus signature patterns (conficker) etc. In addition, some of these analyses are now required in order to achieve compliance with PSN code of connection, Payment Card Industry - Data Security Standard and NHS N3. Kent County Council (KCC) ICT Division supports approximately 12,000 users across 500 sites throughout Kent. All sites are connected to the Kent Public Services Network (KPSN2) which provides high speed access ranging from a 10GB core network and meshed network supporting further 1GB and 100MB connections. The wide Area Network (WAN) is managed and supported by a third party organisation. There are two data centres based in Maidstone and Chatham which support approx. 725 servers and associated support systems. Included within the 500 sites there are 10 Tier 1 sites which service localised sites with services like Windows based file and print, Local Domain Controllers etc. Typically a Tier 1 site can contain 3 - 10 servers. Expression of Interest This is a Prior Information Notice to inform potential bidders of the Council's intention to go out to tender as well as gathering market intelligence about effective and efficient ways of structuring the procurement.
