description

We require the design and provision of 2 x deep-water moorings that are capable of making detailed measurements at 600 kHz of turbidity currents. This includes ADCP, housing within syntactic buoy, provision of battery packs, deep-water acoustic release links, hydro dynamically efficient mooring wire and assembly of the entire mooring. These must be capable of withstanding significant impacts by fast-moving flows (up to 10 m/s), maintaining stability (taught wire and level buoy), imaging their internal velocity and concentration structure at high temporal and depth-resolution, and to be retrieved at the end of the field deployment. The supplier must be familiar with the monitoring of turbidity currents, design of moorings to withstand such conditions, the operations of the Canadian Geological Survey vessel that we are using (RV Vector) and be able to provide this equipment at short notice to the mobilisation port of Sidney in Victoria.
